The history of village Kozlovice [ History ]

A distinctive Wallachian village, its date of foundation the 4st September 1294 is safely historically recorded with foundation chapter, ot belonged for the whole time to Hukvaldy demense. It is situated at the foot of Beskydy Ondřejníks (Ondřejník, Solárka and the highest Skalka with its sea level of 964 m). Kozlovice is a village of so-called street type founded as a two-terraced trackt of land's village. In the 16th and 17th century they were seat of Wallachian voivods of Hukvaldy demense, who were in charge of administration of sheepfolds in the back mountains. They mostly originated from the Krpec's family. Their fates were novelistically compiled by the writer Bohumír Četyna and Wallachian traditions in songs and dances have been spread round all the world for 30 years by local folklore group Wallachian voivod (Valašský vojvoda) and children's group Small Wallachian (Valášek). During the Thirty Years' War Kozlovice was secured and plundered by the soldiers of Swedes besieging nearby Hukvaldy Castle. To the present day is in the village surviving so-called Swedish mound, allegedly over the grave of soldiers. At the beginning of the 19th century in the surrounding fields was mined a pelosiderit - iron ore, that was first of all treated in iron-mills in nearby Frýdlant nad Ostravicí, lately in steelworks and ironworks in Ostrava-Vítkovice. As a memory of them stayed so-called unloadings (heaps of exhausted waste rock), these were however in the period of so-called socialization of village liquidated and ploughed in cooperative trackts of land. To the mining of iron ore belonged also burning of charcoal in so-called charcoal kilns, the memory of them were also discovered. A harsh beauty of the village separated by the stream Ondřejnice and street with lenght of about 7 km into two parts inspired a music composer Leoš Janáček, a native of neighbouring village Hukvaldy. In the pub at "Harabiš's" during folk dances he recorded words and tune of folk songs and nearby Šmiřák's mill inspired him to compose an opera "Jenufa (Její pastorkyňa)".
